Call for Presentations - Online Courses

The Ohio Health Information Management Association is inviting individuals or companies to submit presentation proposals to be considered for OHIMA's online education series. If accepted, your course will be placed on the OHIMA Web site to be accessed via the Internet (www.ohima.org). Share your wealth of health information management knowledge with your peers in this exciting format!

If your presentation is selected, here is how you will benefit:

Instructor Responsibilities

I. Course Materials

The Instructor shall be responsible for developing all course materials, submitting information to OHIMA either electronically or on disk as text file or in the format of Microsoft Word, Version 7.0.

Course content shall be determined by the Instructor and approved by the OHIMA Board of Directors. The course shall also include a self-assessment test (up to 75 multiple choice questions/answers).

The OHIMA system administrator will be responsible for organizing and providing easy navigation through the course content in a manner conducive to online learning.

The Instructor agrees to work with OHIMA's system administrator responsible for posting information on the Internet to verify the accuracy of the on-line course prior to the implementation date.

II. Self-Assessment

1. The Instructor shall be responsible for developing a self-assessment tool for participants.

2. The self-assessment shall include multiple choice questions and answers covering the course material. Up to 75 questions can be included on the self-assessment. A 70% passing grade must be achieved for course participants to receive their CE certificate.

Compensation

In consideration for the development of materials, OHIMA shall pay the Instructor a total of $250 per course hour. For example, if the Instructor develops a course approved for 4 hours (4 CEs), s/he will be paid $1000.

Bonus Compensation: OHIMA will track the number of participants who've enrolled in the course over time. For a period of one year from the "go-live" date of the course, OHIMA will pay the instructor bonus compensation for course participants. The bonus amount will vary depending on course length and contract agreement.

As an independent contractor, the Instructor is responsible for all applicable payroll taxes. If the Instructor encounters any significant expenses necessary to perform the services outlined above, a request for expense reimbursement may be brought to OHIMA for approval prior to the Instructor incurring the expense.

OHIMA Responsibilities

I. Expenses

OHIMA shall pay for all expenses associated with the course, including marketing and postage.

II. Administrative

OHIMA shall process all registrations and shall keep all necessary records associated with course.

OHIMA shall be responsible for granting course access and CE credits to course participants.

III. On-Line Course Information

After receipt of course content from Instructor, the course content will be reviewed by select OHIMA Board members prior to the "go-live" date.

OHIMA shall be responsible for setting-up and designing the course content on the OHIMA Web site. This includes provisions for online registration and set-up of a dynamic HTML form which automatically grades test and grants CE certificate to those with a passing score. All technical questions associated with course shall be handled by OHIMA.
