Special Interest Community - Mission

The Special Interest Community (SIC) of the Ohio Health Information Management Association (OHIMA) is composed of HIM professionals in the State of Ohio serving in roles such as physician office, long-term care facilities, freestanding clinics, cancer treatment centers and information system/technology roles. The Special Interest Community’s vision is to enable the Community of Practice to realize their highest level of professionalism that can be facilitated through networking and sharing resources.

On an annual basis, members of this community can renew their membership as well as those desiring to join via the Special Interest Community section of the OHIMA website. The purpose of this community is to serve as a tool to foster networking and communication among the diverse membership and to share resources and best practices to improve the profession.

The regional associations are asked to make this community known to its members so that everyone has an opportunity to join the roster and/or to participate in upcoming events.

Special Interest Community Membership is FREE! If you are interested in becoming involved in this community of if you have questions, please Contact Us.
